The scheme
What creates VEECs
Under the Victorian Energy Upgrades program, each VEEC is one tonne of CO2e abated. Accredited providers lodge activities with the Essential Services Commission and the certificates are traded to energy retailers.
Hot water heat pumps
Replacing an electric or gas water heater with a heat pump is one of the most common residential activities.

Commercial lighting

Compliance notes
Keep VEEC claims clean
- Activities must be registered by an accredited provider under the program.
- Product eligibility is checked against the Essential Services Commission product registers for the install date.
- Keep install records, customer consent and photos with serials for the audit trail.
- Where the same job also creates STCs, both claims must match on model, serial and date.
