Green Energy Trading STC: what it says, what to ask

In short

Green Energy Trading says residential solar installers are paid one day after it receives a valid claim and that it has operated 18 years. Rates and fees were not stated on the page we read, so ask for them in writing.

Written and checked by the Energy Merchants desk · Reviewed 2 October 2026

Green Energy Trading is an established certificate trader, and its own site makes some specific promises about payment. This page reports those promises as published, notes what is not stated, and gives you the questions to ask any trader. It is not a review: we have not tested its service and say nothing about how it performs in practice.

What Green Energy Trading says about itself

According to its website (2 Oct 2026), Green Energy Trading describes itself as having “18 years and strong”, an independent platform and an “in-house platform for all activities”. It uses the line “We pick up the phone” for customer support. On payments, its residential solar page says installers get “paid 1 day after we receive your valid claim”, and it also says “You get paid. No matter what”. It says it serves 1,600+ businesses and publishes average earnings per install for 2025 (batteries and solar PV).

Those are the company’s statements. We cannot verify them, and nor should you take ours on trust: ask for the terms in writing.

What the page does not state

On the page we read, rates and fees were not stated. The average-earnings figures are averages per install, not a rate per certificate, so they do not tell you what your own job would pay. Ask for the current rate, any fee, and what “valid claim” and “no matter what” mean in practice, including what happens if a certificate is later invalidated.

Reading a payment promise

A payment-time promise is only as useful as its definition. Three things to pin down with any trader, including us.

  • What starts the clock? Submission, a “valid” claim, or registry approval.
  • What counts as valid? Who decides, and how fast.
  • Who carries the risk if a certificate is rejected later?

Our own claim is specific: 24-hour settlement from sign-off for established partners, with the first claim taking 48-72 hours while we verify your details. How long STC payment should take walks through the stages a claim passes through, and top STC claim rejection reasons explains why “valid” is the word to watch.

From the desk. Ask every trader the same sentence: "From the moment I lodge a complete claim, on which business day is money in my account, and what do you deduct?" Compare the answers, not the slogans.

Where Energy Merchants fits

Energy Merchants publishes its rate daily on /pricing/ and locks it on lodgement of a complete claim. There are zero fees, a named account manager for every partner, and a compliance desk that pre-checks every claim. Settlement is backed by REC Traders. If you want to compare both traders in writing, start here.

Batteries and hot water

Green Energy Trading publishes battery and solar average-earnings figures and says it is accredited for certain NSW battery schemes. If your mix includes batteries, check payment terms for those jobs specifically, because evidence rules are stricter. Our battery STC guide and hot water STC guide cover the claim types we handle.

Next steps

Request written terms from Green Energy Trading and at least one other trader, then compare net dollars and payment days in a simple table. The trader comparison page and our switch guide help if you decide to move.

How we wrote this. Energy Merchants is a certificate trader, so we have a horse in this race. Statements about other providers are taken from their own public websites on the date shown above and are attributed. If something here is out of date, tell the desk and we will fix it.
