Emerging Energy STC trading: what to know
In short
Emerging Energy describes itself as a certificate trader established in 2011 covering STCs, LGCs, VEECs and ESCs. Rates, fees and payment times were not published on the pages we could review, so ask for them in writing.
Emerging Energy is one of the longer-running names in certificate trading, and installers searching for “Emerging Energy STC” want to know what it offers and how it compares with other buyers. This page records what the company says about itself, with the caveat below, and gives you the framework to compare it fairly. We have not rated it and do not assert anything about its rates or speed.
What Emerging Energy says about itself
Its website describes the company as established in 2011 and as trading small-scale and large-scale certificates (STCs and LGCs), VEECs and ESCs. It says it makes the process simple and quick from registration and pricing to trade and settlement, and that it buys unregistered STCs once an installation is complete. That makes it a trader or buyer in the categories described in what an STC aggregator is.
A note on our sources: the Emerging Energy site was difficult to retrieve directly at the time of writing, so the description above reflects pages as indexed, and may have changed. Check its site before relying on it.
What it does not state
On what we could see, Emerging Energy does not publish a rate card on the pages we reviewed, a payment timeframe or a fee schedule. That is not a criticism: many buyers quote on request. It does mean you should ask for the figures in writing before you lodge.

How to compare buyers fairly
A quoted rate is only the start. Three buyers with the same headline can leave you with different money in the account.
- Net dollars. Subtract every fee and deduction.
- Date. Count from the day you lodge a complete claim to the day money arrives.
- Lock. Does the rate hold from lodgement, or float until the certificate is registered?
- Contact. Can you reach a named person?
The 2026 STC spot market has been roughly $38-40 per certificate, with the Clean Energy Regulator’s clearing house ceiling at $40, so differences between buyers are often in fees and timing rather than headline price. Check what an STC is worth in 2026 for the context and how long STC payment should take for realistic expectations.
Multi-certificate installers
Emerging Energy says it deals in VEECs and other state certificates as well as STCs. If you run both solar and Victorian upgrades, our note on VEECs and STCs on the same job covers how to keep the paperwork straight, whichever buyer you use.
Where Energy Merchants fits
Energy Merchants publishes its rate daily on /pricing/, locks it on lodgement of a complete claim, charges zero fees, and settles established partners within 24 hours (first claim 48-72 hours). A named account manager looks after each partner and the compliance desk pre-checks every claim. Settlement is backed by REC Traders. If you would rather compare in writing, start a conversation and send the same questions to both of us. Our switch guide explains moving work between providers.
Next steps
Request written terms from Emerging Energy and from any other buyer you are considering. Use the table, compare net dollars and dates, and keep the replies. If you are sorting through several providers, the STC trader comparison lists the categories and the questions side by side.
How we wrote this. Energy Merchants is a certificate trader, so we have a horse in this race. Statements about other providers are taken from their own public websites on the date shown above and are attributed. If something here is out of date, tell the desk and we will fix it.
